The Antica Locanda is located in the village of Ghivizzano, in the Serchio Valley, between the Apuan Alps and the Tuscan-Emilian Appenines. In 1554, it hosted poor pilgrims travelling on the nearby via Francigena, as the marble plaque on the building façade states. After crossing the thousand-year-old Ponte del Diavolo you will reach the inn, entering a unique part of Tuscany, full of nature and arts, legends and traditions. Ghivizzano is situated south of Garfagnana and, while staying with us, you will be fully immersed in nature as this area is surrounded by natural parks, lakes and caves such as Orecchiella Natural Park, Lago Santo and Grotta del Vento, an underground treasure located in the Apuan Alps Regional Park. The landscape is characterized by mountains and dense chestnut woods, as well as ancient mediaeval villages, fortresses and citadels nestled in nature, such as Fortezza delle Verrucole.
